The Mayor of Sanctuary

The 2024 Expanded Edition of "The Mayor of Sanctuary" by Nara Makes Games, the one man studio that was established in Nara, Japan during the 2020 global pandemic. This game reflects my experience living in Nara for eleven months where I focused my life on all things fun/nostalgia (retro video games, anime, toys, etc). 

This is the very first video game I ever created. If you play, I hope that you get some of that calming charm that I intended when crafting this short and sweet adventure experience. This is my love letter to Japan, Nara, the Game Boy, The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening, and of course... animals.

"The Mayor of Sanctuary" was originally released in December of 2023* and the new Expanded Edition was released in July of 2024. The Expanded Edition adds new content, new characters, new collectibles, new scenes, and new music.
